Workshop on Sustainable Development in the European Chemical Industry

The workshop will showcase sustainable development projects developed and run by national social partners of the chemical industry, and allow to collectively discuss and develop actions on EU-level.

The workshop on sustainable development in the chemical industry will showcase sustainable development projects developed and run by national social partners on the Member States’ level as well as allow to collectively discuss and develop actions to be taken on the EU-level in the future.The workshop is organised by European Sectoral Social Partners: the European Chemical Employers’ Group, ECEG, and industriAll European Trade Union, hosted by ECEG’s Swedish member IKEM, in Stockholm, Sweden.Moreover, members of the ECEG and industriAll Europe will exchange with Mr. Geert Dancet, Executive Director, European Chemicals Agency, in particular on ECHA’s support towards the sustainable chemical industry after the 2018 deadline.The workshop will aim at presenting good practice examples, allowing interactive exchange among participants and other stakeholders, and having an experts’ Q&A session.The European sectoral social partners pursue a joint strategy, which links economic success, social equity and environmental responsibility. We are committed to promoting the attractiveness of the chemical industry in Europe towards future and current workers. Well-skilled and dedicated workers appreciate the sustainable working environment characterised by high environmental, security and safety standards, quality jobs and remuneration, and their personal opportunities regarding voluntary mobility and career paths within the sector.
