United for Nepal 2018

United for Nepal is an initiative taken by the students of the Master’s Degree Course in Human Rights and Multi-level Governance, of the University of Padova, Italy.

Our main areas of interests include promoting inclusive education and reducing inequality in Nepal, which corresponds to two of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals, namely goal number 4 “Quality Education” and goal number 10 “Reduced Inequality”.

United for Nepal 2018 has been started, comprising of two main activities: a charity event that will take place at Centro Universitario Zabarella, Padova, on the 1st June 2018, and a crowdfunding activity on an online platform from May to the beginning of September.

In 2017, donations from the campaign were used for (1) building a computer lab with access to Internet for students of a secondary school in Sindhupalchock district – Internet is essential for educational empowerment, but it also grants the local community a meaningful chance to connect with their family members or relatives all across Nepal and around the world; and (2) buying fans for classrooms of schools in the South-West of Nepal – where students have to study under hot weather condition, with 40-degree heat.

Targets of the 2018 campaign are mostly follow-up and extension of previous years’actions which aims to improve the quality of educational environments for disadvantaged students as well as facilitate the empowerment actions of the local community.
