Italy is committed to the 2030 Agenda and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through the National Sustainable Development Strategy (NSDS). The NSDS represents the strategic framework to promote economic, social and environmental development in Italy. Established to ensure a prosperous and resilient future for current and future generations, the NSDS coordinates initiatives at national and local level, promoting partnerships among central and sub-national institutions, government agencies, non-governmental organisations, companies and citizens, in order to develop innovative and sustainable solutions. The ultimate goal is to create a more equitable and inclusive society, where every individual can enjoy a high level of well-being without compromising resources and opportunities for future generations.

To this aim, the NSDS identifies strategic choices and national objectives along six areas of intervention, the so called “5Ps”, plus a Sustainability Vectors area, that includes the “enabling conditions” for NSDS implementation: "Policy Coherence for Sustainable Development" (V1), "Culture for Sustainability" (V2) and "Participation for Sustainable Development" (V3). They are designed to trigger authentic transformative paths together with central and sub-national administrations, territories and society. The National Action Plan for Policy Coherence for Sustainable Development (PCSD NAP) is an integral part of the NSDS, setting out an incremental path to mainstream sustainability as a standard for decision-making. Furthermore, the NSDS process ensures a Forum for sustainable Development. The Forum was launched in 2018 and currently includes more than 300 organizations. It was built as a structured and ongoing space for dialogue and exchange with non-State actors, civil society and experts, aiming at assuring their involvement in NSDS implementation processes. The NSDS also promotes the inclusion in the process of the academic and research sector, by funding projects aimed at improving the territorial sustainable development processes.

We invite public administrations, civil society organizations and non-state actors to participate in this event and to register your sustainable development project to become part of this European initiative!
